Mimosaceae

Interesting Fact: Taiwan Acacia in Hong Kong are Dying?!

As Taiwan Acacia is sturdy and fast growing, they were widely planted in Hong Kong to prevent soil erosion in the 1950s.

However, Taiwan Acacia has a relatively short life expectancy (50-60 years on average), meaning that most of the Taiwan Acacia planted in Hong Kong over the years are slowly dying.

The aged Taiwan Acacia is replaced with native plants to reduce the safety risk and to increase the biodiversity in nature.
